A newly refurbished six bedroom town house situated in the heart of London’s Fulham.
The brief by the client was to install an audio and visual system into the property given that the cabling had already been installed by a different contractor. The
main request was to keep all aspects of the system simple to for the end user.
A Wireless Sonos multi-room audio system was provided and distributed
throughout to the Home Cinema, Kitchen, Lounge, Master Bedroom and Ensuite. Two Sonos hand controllers were provided for control which was capable of streaming internet radio as well as all of the clients CD collection which was
stored on the main P.C’s hard disk.
It was possible to play individual music tracks independently in all areas as well as linking zones for the 'party event' situation.
All the speakers installed were the Plaster over Amina range which meant that the only piece of the system that was on display was the wireless hand controllers.
The Basement was the location for the Home Cinema and was installed with a 63inch Samsung True High Definition Plasma TV recessed into a bespoke fitted mantel piece. The surround sound system was powered by a Denon Processor and complimented with a Bowers and Wilkins MT 30 Surround Sound System and a Denon DVD player. All control was undertaken using an RTI T2-C wireless remote control which also switched the music system.
The client wanted to be able to view Sky HD, DVD and control the music system within the Home Cinema and also be able to view a standard Sky box and Sky+ box in all secondary areas including the Kitchen and Master bedroom over the CAT5 infrastructure.
All source equipment within the property was connected to a Scion Distribution Matrix. This meant that regardless of where you were in the property it would be possible to have full control of any source.
It would be possible for the client to pause a DVD in the lounge and resume playback in the Master Bedroom. The Matrix was capable of delivering high quality Audio and Video in up to 8 rooms in total. If additional rooms were required then simply paralleling another Matrix was a future option.
As all of the system cabling resided in the basement we installed a Middle Atlantic hinged racking system.
This meant that as space was an issue, we could fit an equipment rack tight to the wall and release a hinge in order to access the rear of the equipment and control processors at any time. This was essential for future upgrades and maintenance.
